Isabelle Regout — Alexandre Pampalon, Musée des Cageux du fleuve Saint-Laurent
Details
Several generations have put down roots in logging camps. These men felled gigantic white pines. In spring, the squared timber was assembled into rafts to form 500-metre-long logs. The Raftsmen sailed in these wooden cages from the Ottawa River to the St. Lawrence River. In Quebec City, the precious cargo was shipped overseas to supply British shipyards.
Dive into the history of these unusual 19th-century sailors, the Cageux!
Admission is free. All are welcome to attend.
