Gregorios Kanellakos was the first Greek to settle in Ottawa, in1895, followed by his brother Demetrios.

By 1900, there were still only 200 persons of Greek descent in Canada.

By 1910, approximately ten Greek families had settled in Ottawa, growing to thirty households by 1930.

Today, Canada is home to over a quarter million people of Greek ancestry, with Ottawa-Gatineau among the four most highly concentrated metropolitan areas.
