HSO Annual General Meeting Postponed

Owing to the ongoing COVID-19 emergency, our President, Karen Lynn Ouellette, unanimously supported by the Society’s Board of Directors, announces that the Society’s Annual General Meeting, scheduled to be held on Wednesday, May 27, 2020 at the Main Branch of the Ottawa Public Library, has been postponed. The meeting will be rescheduled once there is a clearer idea of when the emergency will be lifted and members can once again meet in safety.

Under the Society’s Constitution, we must hold an Annual General Meeting no later than the end of August, 2020. Consideration will be given to holding a “virtual” Annual General Meeting using online conferencing technology. To the extent possible, the Board will keep members informed via email, our website, and through social media.

Preparation of the Society’s 2019 Annual Report has also been slowed by recent developments. Once it is ready, it will be sent electronically to members who have provided the Society with email addresses. Paper copies will be distributed following the lifting of the state of emergency.

We regret that this course of action is necessary. Our number-one priority is the heath of our members and all those who participate in events organized by the Society. Stay safe everybody!
